Stewiacke has 2 trails within the community. One of the trails is names the John Crawford Trail and the other is The Stewiacke River Trail. Each trail has grown and is continuing to expand as the years go on only to open up more opportunity for the community.
The John Crawford Trail
The John Crawford Trail is located on the south side of Kitchener Street west of Rockwell Drive. The trail has been made in different phases adding another piece of land to the trail everytime they look into expanding it. The first section of the John Crawford Trail is a loop that is a total of 350m from the parking lot and back. This part of the trail has crusher dust put down to make for a more user friendly trail. Throughout the first loop of the trail there are many benches that have been put their in dedication to many community members who have had some connection with the trail. The second part of the John Crawford Trail is more of a nature trail focus. This section takes you through the back woods and through a wetland. This section of the trail loops back as well and is a total of 1.6 km. This makes our trail a total of 1.9km.
The Stewiacke River Country Trail
The Stewiacke River Trail is the newest project to Stewiacke. The first phase of The Stewiacke River Trail is 1.4km which connects Mastodon Ridge to the Stewiacke ball fields. This trail offers stunning views of the Stewiacke River while you are walking through the wilderness. The Town of Stewiacke views this trail as an important piece in our economic and recreational development. The Town has just finished developing Phase II to this scenic trail. There is an added loop surrounding the ball fields and as well as a loop back up to the Mastodon Ridge. This will put our trail at 2.5km in total. There are great views from either side of the loop and as well as of the river once you reach the piece of trail that loops the ball fields.
Dennis Park is in the heart of the Town. There are many things to offer in Dennis Park such as our community garden, our walking track, playground and outdoor fitness equipment! The walking track is 600 meters long around and gives a perfect view of the entire park.
