Public Notice - Beached Whale 7/4/2024
This morning, the Town was made aware of a beached whale on the mudd flats adjacent to our dog / park & ball diamonds in the Stewiacke River.
The Marine Animal Response Society (MARS) was notified and will be handing the assessment and plan going forward with the assistance of the Town of Stewiacke Staff and Fire team.
This incident has gained a lot of attention and public interest. We ask that anyone wishing to see the whale, please park at our ball diamond / dog park parking areas and walk in. For safety reasons, please DO NOT park along HWY 102.

Waste Management Communication
Starting June 18th, Colchester Solid Waste will be conducting residential curbside audits across Colchester County, Town of Truro & Town of Stewiacke. If you see us checking your curbside materials before collection, we are just ensuring that everything is sorted properly.
You may see a “leave behind” that shows whether any issues were found, with some education to help in the future. This is so that we can best divert materials to the proper areas and help reduce contamination rates at our facilities.
Please Note: The little plastic baggies with the information can be used as a litter bag for your car!
